Warning...don't wonder!

I wondered what would be next...well here's the update!

Sunday night-Guys showed up, ripped up the carpet, tore out the padding, and vacuumed the water up.

Monday-Same guys delivered a huge fan (with huge noise) and instructed us to run it for a few days.

Tuesday-A loud humming all night, all day, all night. I wonder what our electricity bill will be like...STOP! DON'T WONDER!

Wednesday-We decided our carpet was dry, called the "guys" and they will bring new padding and clean the carpet on Thursday.

Our toilet is now leaking.

I Wonder What Will Be Next?

Monday-BRRR!! 0 degrees. Inside day for the kids at school (no fun for teachers).

Tuesday-frozen pipes in the kitchen! We opened the cupboards, ran the space heater(s)x

0 degrees. Inside day for recess...hope it doesn't happen tomorrow!

Wednesday-pipes are still frozen. Another inside day.

Thursday-Inside day again. Frozen pipes. We borrowed a blow dryer from the Lisonbees and ran it for an hour and a half. 2 drips.

Friday-Kids could choose if they wanted to go outside-most didn't. Pipes are still frozen :)

Saturday-A plumber came and didn't know what to do about the pipes. He just moved from Mesa, AZ. Said he would get back to us (and still hasn't). Finally in the afternoon, with the slightly warmer weather, we got hot water! I did dishes in scalding water and then we waited for the cold. About an hour and a half later we got cold water!

Sunday-Chris found a big puddle in our front room. We found many more when we got home from church (where we learned that our neighbors got flooded too and are getting new carpet...).

I wonder what will be next?

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a grand time at the Whatcott cabin in Brian Head. We made lots of pie, ate lots of food, played in lots of snow, and enjoyed lots of together time. We can't wait to go back!!!
Look at the beautiful edges! 3 done, 6 to go!

First time using a bottle opener on the wall!
Great food, great company, great Thanksgiving!

Just Peachy

I decided to go domestic again and can peaches. What an adventure! I went to the Allred Farms stand and asked a lady there what kind of peaches are good for canning. She happily informed me that the Lemon Elbertas were the best-and oh my, those are the kind they sell. Hmm, I wondered if I was getting a biased opinion, but I decided to make my purchase. I settled for a 1/2 bushel instead of my preconceived idea of getting a whole bushel. (I thanked myself later!) After procuring jars, a water bath canner steamer thing, coolio tongs, and lids (What a nightmare! I think all of Utah went to the Springville Walmart on Friday just before I did and bought everything I needed). This morning I woke up excited to can! I started blanching the peaches and was amazed at how easily the skins of the peaches just fell off-I rather enjoyed the clean, slimy peaches. Loading the jars was easy enough-it made me wish I was back at home with 7 people to help me though. Then into the steamer and away we go! My peaches are done and just cooling off on a towel now!
First batch is in!
12 quarts and 7 pints later...What a beautiful sight!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

We took my Grandpa Lewis on a fabulous birthday excursion. We ate dinner at Chadders and then drove all over South Fork and Squaw Peak finding amazing colors in the leaves. We listened to endless stories of Grandpa's adventurous life in these mountains and had such a great time. We love you, Grandpa!

A Tribute to the Mustang

After three, fun, velocity-filled years the time has come to say goodbye to 'Stang. Farewell dear friend. You carried me though thousands of miles of rain, shine, sleet and snow. May your pastures be green and the wind always at your back.

Sundance Horseback Ride

For our anniversary, Chris took me up to Sundance Stables and we went on a wonderful horseback riding adventure! Here's Chris with his horse at the end-it was raining pretty hard by the end of the ride.
Backdrop of Stewart Falls. Don't we look 2 years in love!?

Life beyond the Y

After the ever-monotonous hike to the Y, we took a trail south and up in search of a meadow we've heard about from my mom and grandpa. This fabulous rock i'm leaning against is the gateway from Y-monotony to canyon beauty!
We named this our secret garden-you go in and are completely surrounded by green, green trees. Beautiful!
We made it to the meadow! I have a super-handsome husband, huh?
Us in the meadow.
Unfortunately, there were tons of large bees flying around. I did not like them one bit.
Our picnic spot in the middle of the meadow...with a little less bees.
Admiring the gorgeous views from the hike.

Progressive Date

Since the weather canceled our backpacking plans, I surprised Chris with a Progressive Date. He opened an envelope for each destination and figured out the clue inside to determine where we went. It was a lot of fun!

First we went to Villa Pizza and got breadsticks.
Next we ordered an enchilada from Los 3 Amigos.
We ate our enchiladas on the grass at the tabernacle.
Then onto an 8" cheese pizza from Blackjack!
Here Chris is really thinking as he figures out his clue.
Our 8" dessert pizza from Pier 49 was yummy!
And we ended the night at Classic Skating!
We love our Starving Student Card!!!!!!
