4 months

Happy 4 months, Savannah Michelle!  Here are some things you are doing:

You have discovered your hands and you love to bring them in front of you and play with your fingers for a little bit before sticking them in your mouth.  Unfortunately, you still don't realize that you are the one who is gagging yourself when you put your fingers so far back in your mouth.  Hopefully time will help you realize this habit that scares the pants off your mommy.  You do stare intently at your hands and one time you were staring and concentrating so hard as you slowly brought both hands up in front of you.  You then pulled one hand in as hard as you could with your mouth wide open, but you missed-your hand landed about 6 inches away from your mouth on the ground.  You stared around wondering where that silly hand had gone-it was so cute!

You love to laugh, giggle, and talk.  You seem to enjoy this more when no one is watching-when you are laying on the ground under your play mat toys, sitting in your bumbo while mommy makes dinner, in your crib when you are supposed to be taking a nap...but you like to laugh at us, too.  Your gummy smile keeps getting bigger and bigger everyday.

You are a champion sleeper.  Of course we have known this about you since day 1.  You go to sleep at 8:30 and get up between 7:30 and 8:30.  Sometimes you wake up at 5 or 6 but with a pacifier, you go right back to sleep.  You can nap through anything!  Your cousins have run around the house screaming and you sleep on.  The other day we were at a party at a friends house and there was loud music, kids playing and running around, and adults talking but you just took your nap for an hour and a half in your carseat in the middle of it all.  You are getting better at getting out of your swaddle and you are starting to take some naps without it.  You are just growing up so fast!

You are learning about toys.  You are starting to bat at the toys that are above you when you are laying down.  You try and bring them towards your mouth with your hands, but coordination has prevented most of these attempts from being successful.  You can hold onto your rattle for more than 30 seconds now and you love trying to suck on it, although I think sometimes you just think it gets in the way of sucking on your hand.

You were a trooper at your 4 month shots.  The nurse was so fast and I had you in my arms by the time you really started to scream.  You calmed down in less than 30 seconds and fell asleep on the way home.  You now weigh 13 lbs 8 oz and are 26 inches tall.  You have graduated to size 2 diapers and at the rate you are growing lengthwise, you will be in 6-9 month clothes before we know it!
