2 months

Emily is 2 months old! (and then some)

She is sleeping great!  She goes down around 8pm with Savannah and sleeps until 9 or 10am, only waking once around 3am to eat-what a dream.

She has a defensive scream whenever she senses Savannah nearby...it is amazing how she knows when Savannah is close, although Savannah is definitely not the quietest mouse in our house.

We love your rare smiles!  And coos!  They light up your whole face and make us all so happy.  Savannah starts squealing in a very high pitched squeal whenever mommy starts talking sweet to you to make you smile.

We went to a final specialist in Tuscon and he diagnosed your left eye with severe PHPV with no chance of surgery to get any sight.  Yay for a diagnosis and yay for a good girl on the long car drive with just mommy.

You haven't lost any hair yet-that is the #1 thing that people comment about you is how much hair you have.  It really is amazing.  Another thing that people ask all the time is where you get your dark hair from.  Obviously they are color blind or they would see that your mommy has dark hair.  When you were blessed and people saw your Uncle Spencer at church, many of them commented to me that "Oh!  NOW I see where she got her dark hair from-her uncle!"  I really don't understand why they don't see mommy's dark hair but for whatever reason, they don't.

Keep growing and being a sweetie-we love you!

1 month

Dearest Emily, you are already 1 month old!

Some highlights from your very first month on earth:

*You have seen three different eye specialists to figure out what is going on with your left eye-and we are onto another one next week!  Hopefully we can narrow down a diagnosis soon and know what to do for you.

*You pull your own hair!  You do have A LOT and you have a strong little fist.  It always seems to be that you pull with your left hand-you grab a big clump and then scream because "someone" is pulling your hair and causing you pain.  We hope you grow out of this soon.

*One of mommy's nicknames for you is "damsel in distress."  You have a sixth sense for when Savannah is near (it's not like she is a noisy toddler or anything) and you have a super high-pitched squeal/scream that you let out.  If you are trying to scare Savannah off, it's not working.  Savannah gets so excited when you make any noise...and the louder the better!  She loves to imitate your cries and squeals and lay down 3 inches from your face to look inside your mouth as you cry.

*You have given us a few sweet smiles...oh you are such a darling!

*Champion eater you are!  You weighed in this month at 11 lbs 8 oz!  The doctor said you can sleep as long as you want.  You consistently are sleeping 12 hours a night, waking up twice to eat and go right back to sleep (usually).

We love you, dear Emily.  Life is so wonderful with you in it.

State Fair

We had a great time at the petting zoo and watching the motocross tricks!

Pumpkin Patch

We pulled out some Halloween books at the beginning of the month and read them to Savannah. From The Five Little Pumpkins, Savannah learned what a pumpkin was.  She now LOVES pumpkins and gets excited when we see one at the store or in people's lawns on our walks.  Needless to say, she was in heaven at the pumpkin patch!
